How to be fashionable on a low budget.

Hey there! If you are reading this, then it’s a given that you don’t have money to splurge leisurely; so do I. Spending hard earned money on designer and expensive things has never been  on my list ever, because I could do many other things with that than buying things that I am going to throw one day. For looking stylish and fashionable, it’s not necessary to make a big hole in your pocket.

So, how to get that cool look within a budget, and rock your inexpensive clothes like a Fashionista? I tell you how!

Be it your plain boring tee, or unwaxed hands, layer and cover it up with a denim jacket or plain shrug!Buy a denim jacket with a washed out look, and opt for a lighter color.Shrugs are also available in different designs, and length.  Many of us tend to buy glares that don’t really complement our face, and we end up looking weird instead of stylish. Before buying them, you can always google out what size would compliment your face type. There are plenty of articles on them. You can buy them at your nearest optician, as they tend to have more good quality, yet inexpensive ones. If quality is not your concern, then you can shop at famous spots like sarojini nagar, link road etc. Sunglasses not only protect your eyes, they add the glamour  quotient as well! Aviators are the most popular ones; they sit well with everything and on everyone!

From all the other bags, a sling bag is much recommended. You can wear it with ethnic as well as casual wear. Buy a brown, sand color, or a black one, and you are ready to rock every look. Sling bags are easy to carry around, and available at very cheap rates for a good quality one.

When the dress is simple, and nothing seems to help brighten it up, always accessorize it. Invest in a classy and statement neckpiece. Nothing in the world can amp up the style game than a statement neckpiece. You can pair it up with a plain black LBD, or wear it under the collar of your plain shirt. Skip wearing big earrings, or wear tiny beads as you don’t want to look like a jewelry shop on display; let the neckpiece have all the attention

Buy shoes that you can wear with any clothing. I know, every look got to have a different shoe, but there are “universal” shoes available that sits with everything, and what’s better than black pumps! Buy a pair of reasonably prices black pumps, or peep-toes from your nearby shoe shop rather than buying branded and expensive one’s.

When a simple and humble kurta seems to bore you, make it your one piece and ditch your leggings. Be sure to wear a brown belt with it; the look would turn out cool.

It’s completely okay if you don’t wear any foundation, concealer, and all that stuff, but never skip kajal and lipstick. Your eyes and your lips are the first thing people notice, and they speak aloud about your personality. Choose a lipstick, that goes well with everything. Always prefer nudes, peach, for sober looks, and when you feel to go bold, red and fushia are the go-to colors. Prefer matte or cream lipstick over the glossy or satin one.

Yes, girls! Confidence charms people like nothing else. Be comfortable in whatever you wear and carry it around with confidence. Be simple if you like, you don’t need to be stylish and fit into a space you are not comfortable in. Make your confidence win everyone, and it don’t even cost a penny.

Some quick points to remember:

  • To shop within budget, we should always buy things that we can pair it up with different clothing.
  • Also, make sure that you have a right size bra that fits you properly, otherwise no look would seem to be in place.
  • Invest in a good quality  skin fit jeans that fits you comfortably like your second skin. Every tee, top, shirt will look fabulous on it.
  • Do smart shopping, and hone your bargaining skills; quality can be bought at a cheaper rate too.

  1. I love the kurta, with our without the belt. That blue is such a rich and vibrant color. I also think that a statement piece like a necklace is key to set off an outfit. Thanks for sharing your tips.

    1. I wear assymetric kurta with a belt as a one piece; on occasions I wear it with leggings. :p
I love to experiment with my clothes.

  2. I like all these ideas. I really need to get a statement necklace. Mine are all pretty simple. I also need new sunglasses!

    1. Yes, you should definitely get a statement necklace, nothing accentuates a simple look like it does. And buy sunglasses that suits your face. You can google it out and decide on one.

  3. A nice piece of statement jewelry can go a long way in making an outfit look more expensive. Nice suggestions here.

    1. You are so like me, then! 🙂 Splurging on unwanted things is not my cup of tea, if I can invent a new look by pairing and combining.

  4. I love me a good jacket! Jean, leather or maybe just a cardigan but I love them! These are great ideas too.

  7. Love the ideas here! One of my favorite tricks is definitely the statement necklace. If only I could wear heels without killing my feet, I would do that, too!

    1. I am happy that you liked them. Many have loved the neckpiece hack, so do I. It’s completely okay if you can’t wear heels, try flat peep toes; that works too.

  8. Great points and confidence is on the top of the list for me. I love scarves too. And that belt on kurta is a good idea.

    1. I am glad that you liked it. Kurta and belt is my self made combination, you can try them. It does look fun, but make sure you choose assymetric kurta or the one that is sewn all around the edges. Don’t choose a kurta with slits on the sides, that definitely can’t be worn as a one piece.

    1. Thank you so much. You are right, one doesn’t need all the money in the world to look fashionable.

  9. I think what you can also do it buy one high end piece, a staple, like a black dress or a nice jacket, and then accessorize it with cheaper pieces to create many different looks. Fashion is so expensive and be such a massive budget. It changes all the time so fast that the moment you get something, you need something else! Great tips though! xx corinne
